a guest that hurt my head is immodest

English translation

If I had known that I would not respect it
I would have kept a secret in exchange for keeping it

VERSE 4

Who can restrain the reins of horses from their temptation
just as the reins of horses are restrained by bridles?

VERSE 5

English translation

Do not accuse sin of curbing her desire, for food strengthens the desire of gluttony.

VERSE 6
English translation

The soul is like a child: if you neglect it, it will grow up to love breastfeeding, but if you wean it, it will be weaned.

VERSE 7
English translation

So divert her desires and be careful not to take charge of her. Indeed, if she takes charge of her desires, she or he will be deaf.

VERSE 8
English translation

And he pastures her while she is at ease in her work
but if she takes up pasture, then she is not grazed.

VERSE 9
English translation

How deadly it has become a pleasure for a person, since he did not know that poison was in the fat.

VERSE 10

And fear the machinations of hunger and satiety, for hunger is worse than hunger.

VERSE 11

English translation

And differ from the soul and Satan and disobey them, but if they are of pure sincerity, then deceive them.

VERSE 13

I have attributed to it a childless offspring.
