MawlidSA prepares for 2015/1436 Commemmorations

One Messenger One Ummah (Nation)

Annually global Muslims commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him) who they express love, honor and respect for as the greatest man that ever lived. The life, birth and message of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him) is emulated and adhered to by Muslims who send salutations to the Prophet (Peace Be upon Him and His family) during their daily lives.

In South Africa, MawlidSA teams have started preparations for the various programs in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Pretoria and Johannesburg to be hosted during the month of January 2015.

We hereby extend an invitation to the media for the Media Launch of Mawlid commemorations in South Africa for the year 2015. The special Media Launch and Barzanji Program will be hosted on the 3 December 2014 at the Athlone Stadium, Media Conference Centre at 18h00 for 18h30.

The media will be provided with information on the history of Mawlid in South Africa, this year’s program, special guests, partnerships, MawlidSA brands, sponsorship, website, stalls, seerah conference and the national Mawlid Registry.

The aim of Mass Mawlid 1436 is to celebrate the life and practice of the final emissary of God Almighty, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through songs in praise of the Prophet (Peace Be upon Him), messages of joy, pearls of wisdom and moving odes.

“Mawlid-un-Nabi celebrations revive and invigorate one’s sense of connection with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),” event spokesperson Nabeweya Malick explained.

This year’s event will once again be partnered by the City of Cape Town.

As a prelude to the main mass mawlid, a special Barzanji Program will also be hosted after the media launch.

Mawlid Mawlid an-Nabi is a special day in Islamic calendar to remember the birth of Prophet Muhammad. The day falls on the 12th day of Rabiul Awal of Islamic lunar calendar every year. Every year, Muslims around the world celebrate the day by large street processions, distributing food and charity and talks and sermons about the life of the prophet.
