MAWLID SA 1436 MAWLID IN MADINA AL MUNAWARRAH

As Salaamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuhu.

Alhamdulillah, South African Mu’tamirien from various hotels in Madinatul Munawarrah hosted an unprecedented and spontaneous Mawlid gathering on the eve of 12 Rabi al Awwal when 8 full busses headed towards a private venue to express delight at the birth of the Light. The spirit, inspiration, gratitude and love expressed for the Beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa alihi was salaam was overwhelming as the beautiful sounds of salawaat filled the air in Madina.

True to the love expressed in South Africa during the blessed month of Rabi-al-awal, the crowd increased as all who were attracted by the salawaat and thikrullah leading up to a special Mawlid and thikrullah were welcomed to the program. The program was based on the recitation of the Holy Quran and the feeding of the poor and needy of Madinatul Munawwarah. True to the selfless qualities that South Africans have become known for, they demonstrated their generosity in keeping with the spirit of the Sunnah.

There are some misguided rumors that the Saudi Authorities stopped the Mawlid and accused the Attendees of Grave Worshipping. These rumours are unfounded as two representatives of the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice participated in the program and questioned the honourable Quarie about the length and duration of the program and once satisfied allowed the gathering to continue. The spirited gathering then proceeded to distribute food to the poor people of Madina and continued the second part of the Mawlid Programme in Masjidun Nabawi as Sharief in the presence of the Mustapha Sallalahu alaihi wa alihi wa sallam till the early hours of the morning.

A second Mawlid gathering was hosted in the precincts of the Haram an Nabawi as Sharief and attended by many people coinciding with the eve of 12 of Rabi ul Awwal in South Africa in which  Qiraah, the recitation of the Shama’il in the Haram; Poetry in praise of the  Rasul sallalahu alaihi wa aalihi wa sallam and the  Barzanji was recited together with various different salawaat. The program ended with Niyaz (traditional dhal and rice).

We thank Allah subhana ta ala for blessing our people with the special love that they expressed during the beautiful days and nights spent in the presence of the best of creation, Al Mustapha sallalahu alaihi wa aalihi wa sallam. May Allah subhana ta ala accept. Ameen.

End.
